Mayoral Proclamation - General Aviation Appreciation Month - 11.01.2017

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim general aviation a vital strategic resource to the City of Fargo and declare November as General Aviation Appreciation Month.

  • WHEREAS, The City of Fargo in the state of North Dakota has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aircraft manufacturing, aviation educational institutions, aviation organizations and community airports; and

  • WHEREAS, North Dakota is home to 89 public-use airports, which serve 3,600 pilots and 2,000 active general aviation aircraft; and

  • WHEREAS North Dakota is home to 54 fixed-base operators, 13 repair stations, 17 heliports, 1 FAA-approved pilot school, 820 flight students and 495 flight instructors; and

  • WHEREAS, General aviation in North Dakota contributes more than $121 million in total economic output; and

  • WHEREAS, General aviation improves overall quality of life by supporting emergency medical and healthcare services, law enforcement, firefighting and disaster relief, and by transporting business travelers to their destinations quickly and safely; and

  • WHEREAS, The nation's aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit.

  • NOW, THEREFORE, I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim general aviation a vital strategic resource to the City of Fargo and declare November as General Aviation Appreciation Month in the City of Fargo, North Dakota.

  • IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Fargo, North Dakota to be affixed this 1st day of November, 2017.
