Mayoral Proclamation - John Noah Day - 09.25.2015

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim September 25, 2015, the opening day of the Fargo Force Hockey Club’s 2015-16 Season, to be John Noah Day.

  • WHEREAS, John Noah was a gifted athlete who lettered in both hockey and football in high school, played varsity hockey for UND and was named as a first team All-American, played on a US Amateur Hockey Championship team, was drafted by the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings, and played defense for the Silver Medal-winning US Hockey team in the 1952 Winter Olympic Games in Oslo, Norway; and

  • WHEREAS, John Noah received numerous hockey honors, including induction into the UND Hall of Fame and the North Dakota Hall of Fame; and

  • WHEREAS, John Noah was active in community charitable organizations, and served as a member of the Fargo Park Board and Director of the Civic Auditorium; and

  • WHEREAS, John Noah was active in youth sports, establishing the Fargo Scheels youth hockey traveling teams in Fargo and was instrumental in starting the Shanley High School varsity hockey program in the early 60’s; and

  • WHEREAS, The City of Fargo appreciated his leadership, and dedication to our community and its citizens; and

  • WHEREAS, John Noah passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015.

  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim September 25, 2015, the opening day of the Fargo Force Hockey Club’s 2015-16 Season, to be John Noah Day in the City of Fargo, North Dakota and call upon his friends and associates to celebrate this special day so his memory and contributions will not be forgotten.

  • IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Fargo, North Dakota to be affixed this 16th day of September, 2015.
