Mayoral Proclamation - Scott Miller Day - 10.01.2016

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim Saturday, October 1, 2016 to be Scott Miller Day.

  • WHEREAS, Scott Miller lived in the City of Fargo for 20 years, from 1996 until his death February 25, 2016; and

  • WHEREAS, During that 20 years Scott Miller served as the “Voice of the Bison” for North Dakota State University Athletics and also served as the “Voice of the FM RedHawks” since 2006; and

  • WHEREAS, During that time, Scott Miller was the voice for the remarkable run the Bison had in this past decade including 5 Football Championship Subdivision National Football Championships, Plus historic men's basketball wins at Wisconsin and Marquette, and an NCAA tournament victory over Oklahoma; and

  • WHEREAS, Those who knew him best, his friends, the coaches, other journalist and the athletes, remember Scott Miller as an incredible man who cared deeply about his colleagues and the players whose games he announced; and

  • WHEREAS, Because of this excellence in the broadcasting booth and in life, The Bison Athletic Hall of Fame that honors both athletes and individuals who have made significant contributions to North Dakota State University Athletics inducted Scott Miller into the 2016 Hall of Fame Class.

  • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim Saturday, October 1, 2016 to be Scott Miller Day in the City of Fargo, North Dakota and I call upon everyone to celebrate this special day so Scott Miller’s memory and contributions will not be forgotten.
