Zone: SouthWhat zone am I?
Project Start: September 2017
Estimated Completion: November 2017
Work zone overview for 25th Street and 13th Ave S intersection reconstruction
In recent years, the pavement located in the intersection of 25th Street and 13th Avenue S has been experiencing excessive deterioration and lots of potholes have developed. The pavement is beyond preventive maintenance repairs to keep the driving surface safe for motorists.
The proposed project will aid in extending the useful life of this pavement by replacing the deteriorated pavement and restoring its structural integrity, therefore delaying future deterioration and improving ride quality. In addition to pavement repairs, the contractor will also be replacing some sections of sidewalk that have become uneven or need to be updated to meet current standards for the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The intersection work will occur in three phases and pavement repairs in one phase with the following traffic patterns:
- Phase 1: Crews will remove all the medians through the intersection and install temporary traffic signals. Motorists will be split for travel on their respective side during removals.
- Phase 2: Crews will begin intersection work on the northwest quadrant (the northwest corner by Wells Fargo) and then move clockwise to the next corner.
- Phase 3: Crews will rebuild the median area and install permanent traffic signals. Motorists will be split for travel on their respective side.
- Phase 4: Crews will complete pavement repairs on 25th Street from 12th Avenue South to 17th Avenue South. (Bad patches of concrete roadway will be removed and replaced) Motorist will experience multiple lane closures.
The intersection of 25th Street S and 13th Avenue S will not fully close to traffic, however at times certain traffic movements will be limited to right-in and right-out in the zone to help with traffic flow.
While crews, remove and replace the intersection of 25th Street S and 13th Avenue S, one lane of traffic with turning lanes in each direction will be maintained through the work zone. At times sidewalks will be closed to allow for construction to take place.
Construction will begin the week of September 11th.
All work should be completed by early November.
